RADIO FOR MIGRANTS PROJECT
Strengthening the role of DIASPORA organization in Fighting Afrophobia and Combating Every form of Anti – MuSlim hatred in Europe
The Overall Objective of the Action is to combat Afrophobia and Islamophobia in Europe by promoting the proactive role of diaspora organizations in anti-racism prevention. As emerges from the context analysis carried out by the partners in the two countries where the project will take place – Italy and Sweden – the weak reaction of the democratic institutions in challenging the European migration crisis has fomented the number of manifestations advocating racism, xenophobia and other forms of intolerance and anti-migrant hatred. While the diaspora organizations’ contribution to the development and migration policies is widely recognized, the self-mobilization of the diasporas in preventing racism and discrimination in the hosting society has still untapped potentials. We bring an innovative character by creating a Diaspora News Radio programme building the resilience of a migrant community particularly stigmatized.
